US support for Israel is costing Americans dearly: Analyst

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his gratitude to US legislators after the House of Representatives voted in condemnation of a recent UN Security Council resolution demanding a halt to the Tel Aviv regime’s settlement expansion policy. The motion, which passed 342 to 80 on Thursday, described Security Council Resolution 2334 as “an obstacle to Israeli-Palestinian peace.”

An author and political analyst believes the US Congress is a body “bought and paid for by Israel and its Zionist allies”.

“As many people they have in the American Congress, the hundreds in the House [of Representatives] alone, they all support Israel and they have no concept of what American interests are and how Israel has worked repeatedly throughout its entire existence against the interests of the United States and the American people,” Michael Springmann told Press TV in an interview on Saturday.

He also noted the United States and Israel have “two diametrically opposed interests” there but the House of Representatives does not seem to grasp this reality.

The analyst also argued there should be an “absolute end” to the United States support for Israel; otherwise sooner or later it is going to cost the Americans dearly in “life, liberty and property”.

Springmann further stated it is “absolutely appalling and disgusting” that the people in Congress who should be best informed about what is happening outside of Washington DC and beyond the territorial limits of the United States, are not doing anything about Israel.

The commentator further expressed hope that US President-elect Donald Trump does not fulfill his campaign pledge to move US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds. However, he said, Trump seems to be under the influence of his Jewish son-in-law Jared Kushner.
