Female Iranian rower Mahsa Javer

Female Iranian rower Mahsa Javer has demonstrated praiseworthy athletic skills and strength at the 2016 FISA Asia & Oceania Olympic Qualification Regatta (FAOQR) in South Korea, and finished runner-up to pick up a silver medal.

On Monday, the Iranian sportswoman took part in the finals of women’s single sculls competitions at the artificial Tangeum Lake in the central South Korean city of Chungju, and claimed the second position.

She fought for the honor against rowers from Indonesia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.

A South Korean competitor received the gold medal, and a representative from Chinese Taipei settled for the bronze.

Javer booked her spot in the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games on Sunday, after she clocked 8 minutes and 5.08 seconds in the march to the Final A of the tournament and occupied the second spot.

A contestant from South Korea was the fastest qualifier with a time of 7:57.64.

Separately, Homeyra Barzegar and Nazanin Molaei landed sixth in Final B of women’s lightweight double sculls section, failing to secure a quota place for Olympics.

In Final B of men’s heavyweight single sculls, Aghel Habibiyan stood fourth and fell short of claiming an Olympic qualification spot.

The 2016 FISA Asia & Oceania Olympic Qualification Regatta (FAOQR) started in Chungju, South Korea, on April 22 and finished on April 25.
