Iran's paralympic athlete Jalil Bagheri Jeddi has been named as the flag-bearer of the Iranian sports delegation at the IPC Athletics World Championships in Qatar.
Iran’s paralympic athlete Jalil Bagheri Jeddi has been named as the flag-bearer of the Iranian sports delegation during the opening parade of the 2015 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships in Qatar.
According to a statement posted on the Islamic Republic of Iran Sports Federation for the Disabled website on Tuesday, the Iranian star, who won the gold medal in the shot put competitions of the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, will carry Iran’s flag at the opening ceremony of the Games.
The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships will open in the Qatari capital city of Doha on October 21, and will conclude on October 31.
The tournament will feature around 1,300 athletes from 90 countries, and will take place in the 15,000-seater Qatar Sports Club’s - Suhaim Bin Hamam stadium.
It will be one of the last major competitions ahead of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
