Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says the United States has become "a dumping ground for the rest of the world" as he is doubling down on the call for immigration reform.
The real estate magnate reiterated his commitment to deporting all undocumented immigrants from the country amid enthusiastic cheers from thousands of supporters at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, Monday night.
Trump’s harsh rhetoric on the subject of illegal immigration has defined his presidential campaign ever since he joined the 2016 White House race in mid-June, making him a polarizing figure.
"It's disgusting what's happening in our country," he said.
In addition to deportation, Trump wants to build a wall on the US-Mexico border.
The billionaire businessman released a sweeping immigration policy last month which attacks legal and illegal immigration from all angles.
While the strategy may bode well with the more conservative voters, it threatens to alienate a crucial and growing bloc of Hispanic voters.
Trump offered frequent criticism of his GOP rivals, and dismissed his own critics. “I hear they are all going after me. Whatever.”
"I'm not going anywhere and we're not going anywhere," Trump told the crowd.
"We are killing it. They mentioned a little while ago about the silent majority — it's back. And it's not silent. Maybe we should call it the noisy, aggressive, wanting to win — wanting-to-win majority," he added.
The latest national ABC News/Washington Post poll released on Monday shows Trump continues to dominate the crowded GOP field.
Among registered voters, 33 percent of Republicans and GOP-leaning independents now favor Trump to be the party's nominee for US president, a nine percent jump since July and a 29 percentage point increase since May.
However, 60 percent of respondents believe he is unqualified to serve as president and the same percentage say he lacks the personality and temperament to succeed in the White House.
