Iran’s Fajr film festival reaches its climax after ten days of screening films. This year women filmmakers had an impressing impact on the festival which led to praise from Iran’s minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance. This year the Fajr film festival had four different sections including the main competition section, Film Newcomers, Arthouse films and documentaries. One woman director in particular is very happy as her film won the best film award in the art-house section. This is her first feature-length film. From early on it was predictable from the reviews that “Crazy” directed by Abolhassan Davoodi would win many “crystal simorgh” awards. The film was successful to get “Best Director” as well as the special award for the audience’s favourite film. It was also a very good night for “Saeed Agha Khani”. Agha Khani is well known for his acting in television and rarely stars in cinematic films. He went home with the Best Actor award for the film “The long Farewell”. The best actress award went to the talented Baran Kosari for the film “Binaam Alley”. Kosari started her career when she was a young girl and since then she has been going from strength to strength. It may have been cold and rainy in the nation’s capital, but these were surly ten hot days for Iranian cinema. The cinematic event was started in 1982 and takes place annually on the anniversary of Iran’s Islamic revolution The 33rd Fajr Film festival has come to an end and now all eyes are on the International section of the festival which will be held in April, Pirouz Farmand, Press TV, Tehran
