The 40th edition of Iran's Fajr Film festival is underway in Iran. The 10-day event screens top Iranian films competing for the top prize.

Iran has begun celebrations to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, which overthrew the US-backed Pahlavi regime.  The festivities, known as the Ten-Day Dawn, start with ceremonies that mark the return to Iran of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, after 15 years in exile.

After a long COVID-driven delay, Iran's major cinematic event, dubbed Fajr Intl. Film Festival, is back on track. Every year, the event screens productions from West Asia, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Anatolia among other regions.
