Iraq faces a political crisis as the deadlock over electing a president delays the formation of a new government.

Iraq’s parliament has postponed a scheduled vote to elect the country’s next president, after the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) failed to reach agreement on a nominee.
