'Use authorized routes only'

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps says two oil tankers have caught fire after hitting sea mines while navigating through an illegal route in the Strait of Hormuz. In a statement, the IRGC also warned that vessels using unauthorized routes risk serious consequences, saying continued violations would result in further losses for those involved. The statement also criticized the United States of supporting such activities, warning of greater costs for oil companies if such actions continue. Meanwhile, the IRGC said its air defense units detected another MQ9 drone belonging to the US military while monitoring airspace over the Strait of Hormuz. It added that the drone was shot down and destroyed. According to the IRGC, it was the 54th such American aerial vehicle that has been shot down by the Iranian air defense forces since the imposed war began in late February.

Tirana protests go on

Anti-government protests in Albania intensify in the capital, Tirana. Demonstrators demand Prime Minister Edi Rama’s resignation over corruption allegations and anger at public services and university conditions. Hundreds of university professors marched to support students and protest police violence. Clashes involving tear gas, water cannon, rubber bullets and petrol bombs have left around 300 people injured, mostly police officers. The prime minister blames foreign actors for fueling what he calls a “hybrid war,” while rejecting calls for his resignation and offering dialogue. Protests initially focused on a controversial resort project linked to Donald Trump’s family but have expanded into an anti-corruption movement. The European Commission has urged proportionate policing.
