Senior commander: Iran ready for any enemy scenario

Brigadier General Alireza Elhami, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Air Defense Headquarters

The commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Air Defense Headquarters has stressed that the Islamic Republic's armed forces are prepared for any scenario, as technical-level talks between Tehran and the US aimed at ending the war are underway in Switzerland.

Referring to the participation of the Iranian people in nationwide nightly demonstrations in support of the Islamic establishment and the country’s armed forces, Brigadier General Alireza Elhami said they have created "unprecedented epics in the streets."

"Iran’s armed forces are also at full readiness today, and we are prepared for any enemy scenario," he stressed.

Brigadier General Alireza Elhami made the remarks during his visit to the army's Northwestern Air Defense zone.

He hailed the "brave” and “self-sacrificing" members of the Air Defense Force, noting that "The air defense recorded a glorious history in this Ramadan war, protecting the borders of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Elhami emphasized that the courage demonstrated by the committed personnel of the Air Defense Force in both the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) across Iran has become “a source of pride for all freedom-seekers.”

He noted that the air defense operational units across the country continue to “stand firmly” in defense of Iran’s sacred skies.

“We emerged with pride and honor from an unequal war, and it is necessary that the valuable experiences gained in the 12-day war and the Ramadan war be documented and preserved for future generations,” the commander added.

The US and Israel started a fresh round of aerial aggression on Iran on February 28, some eight months after they carried out unprovoked attacks on the country.

Iran began to swiftly retaliate against the strikes by launching barrages of missile and drone attacks on the Israeli-occupied territories as well as on US bases and interests in regional countries.

On April 8, forty days into the war, a Pakistan-brokered temporary ceasefire between Iran and the US took effect and was later extended unilaterally by Washington.

On Sunday, the first high‑level negotiations between Iran and the US was held in Switzerland after the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding last week.

The MoU commits both sides to an “immediate and permanent” termination of military operations on “all fronts,” including Lebanon.

It also provides for the lifting of the US naval blockade within 30 days, the unfreezing of billions of dollars in Iranian assets, and a $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran.

A final deal is to be negotiated within 60 days, covering Iran’s nuclear program, the full removal of sanctions, and a permanent end to the war.
