President Masoud Pezeshkian has reiterated that war is not in anyone’s interest, yet warned the enemies that the Iranian Armed Forces are fully prepared to defend the country and Tehran has no fear of war.
“War is not in anyone’s interest, and its continuation will not benefit any party,” Pezeshkian said at the 33rd Monetary and Banking Policy Conference at the premises of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) in Tehran on Sunday.
“This does not mean that we are afraid of war. Servicemen from the Iranian Armed Forces, serving either in the Army or the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), as well as the people of our country, have shown that they stand strong, and will continue resiliently if the war drags on,” he said.
He underscored that the clauses of the memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the United States are mostly to the benefit of the Iranian nation, and the tangible achievements of the ongoing negotiations will soon become fully apparent to the public.
As a direct economic result of the talks starting today, Pezeshkian stated that $6 billion worth of Iranian funds currently held in Qatar will be unfrozen and returned to the country.
He further noted that CBI Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati is actively participating in the negotiations to determine exactly how these resources would be allocated to domestic sectors in order to drive economic growth.
Pezeshkian clarified that the sole point raised by the United States is that Iran must not possess an atomic bomb.
He reaffirmed that this position aligns perfectly with Tehran’s existing policy, as the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei had repeatedly stated over the years that Iran does not want or intend to build nuclear weapons.
“When the US requested to put this long-standing declaration in writing, the Iranian side proceeded to sign the agreement.”
The president added that other negotiated items had also been agreed upon during the lifetime of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, emphasizing that Iran has not and will never back down from its fundamental right to uranium enrichment, which the opposing side has been forced to accept.
Pezeshkian then identified three main factions that are actively dissatisfied with the diplomatic breakthrough.
He referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the very first person to oppose the talks.
The Iranian president stated that Israel’s current military offensives in Gaza and Lebanon are aimed at preventing regional stability and blocking Iran’s economic progress, though external pressures are now forcing Netanyahu to halt this trajectory.
He went on to name foreign-based monarchist groups as the second party heavily distraught with the memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington, stating they oppose national stability and do not want the country to pursue development.
He also lashed out at any internal or external current that actively works against national peace and effectively amplifies Netanyahu’s propaganda.
Pezeshkian finally called upon experts and academics to find scientific, world-class solutions to lower the country’s inflation rate, stating that hundreds of ways exist to rescue the economy and restore the public’s purchasing power.
