Hacker group says it penetrated Saudi, Bahraini steel giants

Hackers from Handala say they penetrated systems of two Arab steel-making giants.

Pro-resistance hacker group Handala says it has penetrated computer systems of two giant steel-making companies in the Arab world, causing complete disruption to their operations.

Handala said in a Monday statement that its hackers had carried out an “unprecedented and extensive” cyber operation to deeply penetrate the systems used to run Sulb in Saudi Arabia and Foulath in Bahrain.

The group said the cyberattack had paralyzed the two companies, which collectively produce two million metric tons per year of steel with a value of $5 billion, and caused them to stop their manufacturing operations.

It said the operation was a response to recent US-Israeli attacks on steel-making companies in countries of the Resistance Front, namely Iran.

“No location in the enemy's geography is beyond the decisive reach of Handala," said the group, which has a record of penetrating sensitive computer systems and databases in the United States and in the Israeli-occupied territories.

“Handala will continue on its powerful path as the voice of the oppressed and a symbol of justice,” it said.

Iran had already carried out attacks on steel and aluminum manufacturers in the Persian Gulf Arab countries as a response to US-Israeli attacks targeting two of its major steel mills earlier this month.

The attacks came as the United States and the Israeli regime were seeking to target key economic and wealth creation centers in Iran to paralyze daily life in the country.

However, Iran's decisive response caused the US to finally bow to Iran's conditions and agree to a two-week ceasefire mediated by Pakistan last week.

Iran had warned from the early days of the US-Israeli aggression in late February that it would destroy major companies in the region where the US has interests if its economic infrastructure is targeted in the war.
