Iran's powerful diplomacy in Islamabad proof of commitment to regional stability: Leader’s advisor

Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, in Islamabad on Saturday ahead of talks with the US.

Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has said that Iran's powerful diplomacy today serves as evidence of its commitment to safeguarding regional stability in light of the country's national authority.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Velayati referred to the high-level talks in Islamabad between Iran and the United States under Pakistani mediation.

He described the "wise presence" of Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and his accompanying delegation as a continuation of Iran's determined will to secure the nation's rights.

Qalibaf and the delegation, which includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, arrived in Islamabad on Friday night for talks centered on Iran's 10-point proposal.

On Saturday morning, the delegation held meetings with senior Pakistani civilian and military leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir, among others.

The talks follow a 40-day war of aggression by the US-Israeli axis against the Islamic Republic, which was paused after the US accepted Iran's proposal for a permanent ceasefire.

In other remarks, Velayati, who previously served as Iran's top diplomat, cautioned that Lebanon's stability depends solely on genuine synergy between the country's government and its resistance movement.

His warning comes amid reports of talks between Lebanon and the Israeli regime.

Addressing Prime Minister Nawaf Salam directly, Velayati said that ignoring the role of the Lebanese resistance movement in protecting the country will expose it to "irreparable security risks."

"Mr. Nawaf Salam must know," Velayati said, "that ignoring the irreplaceable role of the resistance and the heroic Hezbollah will expose Lebanon to irreparable security risks."

He underscored that Lebanon's long-term stability cannot be achieved through any formula other than synergy between the government and the resistance.

Following the announcement of the ceasefire between Iran and the US, Israel launched devastating strikes against multiple cities in Lebanon, resulting in hundreds of fatalities.

In response, Hezbollah targeted numerous Israeli military sites and assets in the occupied territories, as Iran warned the Tel Aviv regime to halt the attacks or face severe retaliation.
