Slamming US warmongering

Iran has vehemently condemned the United States’ continued threats to use military force against Tehran, vowing a decisive and proportionate response to any aggression. Iran's UN envoy issued the warning in a letter to the UN secretary general, Antonio Guterres, and the president of the Security Council. Amir Saeid Iravani said US President Donald Trump's anti-Iran threats constitute a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and international law, and risk plunging the entire region into crisis and instability. He added that a possible military aggression against Iran will also pose a grave threat to international peace and security. Iravani said Iran has repeatedly stated that it neither seeks tension nor war, and will not initiate any war, but will respond decisively and proportionately to any aggression based on its inherent right to self-defense. Iran's envoy stressed that in the event of a military attack, all bases, facilities, and assets of the hostile force in the region would be considered legitimate targets in the context of Iran's defensive response. Urging the Security Council and the UN chief to act without delay, Iran's envoy said the council must not allow threats of the use of force, and acts of aggression to be normalized, or be used as instruments of foreign policy.

Genocide in Gaza

A new study conducted by a prestigious medical journal has revealed that the number of Palestinians killed during the first 15 months of the Israeli genocide in Gaza has been higher than reported by local sources. According to the study by the Lancet Global Health medical journal, more than 75,000 Palestinians were killed in the first 15 months of Israel's aggression, which is far higher than the 49-thousand figure announced by local officials. The study also found that women, children, and the elderly accounted for over 56 percent of violent deaths in Gaza during that period. According to its authors, the study is the first independent population survey of mortality in Gaza. They said the combined evidence suggests that, as of January 2025, three-to-four percent of Gaza’s population was killed violently, and there has been a substantial number of non-violent deaths caused indirectly by the conflict.

Gaza 'Board of Peace'

In a firm rebuke to the convening of Gaza’s so-called Board of Peace in the United States, Hamas has affirmed that any political path or arrangements regarding Gaza must be based on an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression. The movement also reaffirmed the need to lift the siege of Gaza, and guarantee Palestinians' right to freedom and self-determination. Hamas criticized the convening of the session amid the ongoing Israeli crimes in the war-torn territory. It held the international community and the parties participating in the Board responsible for taking practical steps to compel Israel to open Gaza’s crossings and allow unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid. It called on mediators to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, and prevent Israel from obstructing the deal. Hamas warned that any genuine international effort to achieve stability in Gaza must address the root cause of the problem, which is Israeli occupation, and enable Palestinians to gain their full and complete rights.
