A senior aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised Iran’s technological progress, describing its products as competitive in international markets.

He also announced that Tehran and Moscow are working to establish a joint market for technological products, with the aim of jointly entering third-country markets.

Andrei Fursenko, the Russian president’s advisor on science and technology affairs, made these remarks in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday on the sidelines of his visit to an exhibition showcasing Iran’s scientific and technological achievements.

It was held on the sidelines of events marking the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Russia.

“I have been attending Iran’s annual exhibitions for several years and have witnessed many devices and achievements,” he said, noting the steady advancement of Iranian technology despite decades of economic pressure.

Addressing the impact of sanctions on Iran over the past four decades, Fursenko emphasized that Iranian technological products maintain a high standard regardless of restrictions.

“I believe that whether sanctions are in place or not, Iranian technological products are generally of good quality and quite competitive,” he stated.

He added that the removal of sanctions would further strengthen Iran’s position in global markets, making its technological products even more competitive internationally.

Fursenko also highlighted ongoing efforts by Iran and Russia to create a joint market for technological products.

“This market will be larger than the individual markets of each of our countries,” he explained, describing the initiative as a strategic step to expand bilateral economic cooperation.

According to the presidential aide, the two countries plan to enter third-country markets together as part of their future cooperation framework.

Fursenko further underscored the continued collaboration between science support foundations in Iran and Russia, particularly in funding development projects and fundamental research.

He clarified that joint projects between the two countries are not limited to replacing imports under sanctions; they also aim to achieve technological leadership in various fields.

He pointed to the strategic importance of Iran-Russia cooperation, asserting that their combined efforts would yield more successful outcomes.
