Iran-US nuclear talks

Iran’s foreign minister says nuclear talks with the United States will go ahead as planned, and are scheduled to be held on Friday in Oman’s capital. In a social media post, Abbas Araghchi said negotiations will be held at around 10 o’clock in the morning in Muscat. He thanked Omani officials for making the necessary arrangements for the nuclear talks. Araghchi’s statement came after some US media outlets claimed that negotiations were canceled due to disagreements between the two sides. Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian approved talks with Washington on Tuesday. Tehran said it will negotiate only on its nuclear program, and that the United States must withdraw its unreasonable demands for talks to resume. The previous round of nuclear negotiations stalled in June after the Israeli regime and the United States launched strikes on Iran amid the talks.

Israel crimes in Lebanon

The Lebanese government has expressed grave concern over Israel releasing large amounts of hazardous chemicals in southern parts of the country. Beirut says it is referring the matter to the UN Security Council. President Joseph Aoun said Israel has been spraying a powerful herbicide in southern Lebanon. He condemned Israel’s move as a “flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and a crime against the environment and public health.” His remarks came after Lebanon’s ministries of agriculture and environment reported the herbicide's concentration levels to be 20 to 30 times higher than average in the affected areas. Earlier on Monday, the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon said it was forced to cancel more than a dozen activities after Israel warned it of plans to spray what it described as a “non-toxic chemical substance” near the border. Israel has kept forces in some areas inside Lebanon in violation of the ceasefire agreement with the country that calls for a full withdrawal of the regime from Lebanese territory.

Palestine Action activists acquitted

Supporters have rallied outside a London court to celebrate the acquittal of a number of activists who had been jailed for over a year and a half without charge for causing damage to an Israeli-owned weapons factory based in the UK. The activists belonged to the now-"proscribed" Palestine Action group and were found either not guilty or the jury failed to reach a verdict on the charges brought against them.
