The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has strongly condemned the US aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro, describing it as a “grave violation of international law” and an “assault on the sovereignty of an independent state.”
“This aggression represents a continuation of America’s unjust policies and interferences, which are driven by its imperial ambitions,” the Gaza-based group said in a statement on Saturday.
Hamas added that such US policies “have plunged several nations into turmoil, and are posing a direct threat to international peace and security.”
The movement called upon the international community, the UN and its institutions, especially the Security Council, to adopt resolutions that confront Washington’s aggression and immediately halt the military assault on Venezuelan territory.
Islamic Jihad slams US attack on Venezuela as imperial aggression
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad also said the US military strikes exposed clear intentions of domination, occupation and coercion.
The resistance movement said in a statement that the assault constituted a blatant violation of international law and national sovereignty, and reflected a broader imperial strategy of controlling nations and looting their wealth.
The group noted that Venezuela came under attack for its steadfast international positions, particularly its long-standing support for the Palestinian cause and resistance forces in the West Asia region, as well as its support for Palestinians facing genocide and war crimes.
It added that the Venezuelan nation’s fight for freedom and independent decision-making is inseparable from the wider struggle of oppressed peoples against neo-colonial domination.
The movement expressed full solidarity with Venezuela, its people and its legitimate government led by President Maduro.
It called on free peoples and liberation movements worldwide to oppose the US aggression against Venezuela, and defend the principle of national sovereignty and self-determination.
Explosions ripped through the Venezuelan capital Caracas, targeting key military sites including the Fuerte Tiuna complex, La Carlota barracks, Aigeroti Airport, and Cuartel de la Montaña, where the remains of former President Hugo Chávez are entombed.
The strikes triggered widespread power and internet outages, sending Caracas into chaos and exposing civilians to grave danger.
President Donald Trump later announced on the social media platform X that US forces had abducted Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.
