Iran on talks with US

The leader of the Islamic revolution says Tehran is neither overly optimistic nor pessimistic regarding the talks with the United States in Oman. Ayatollah Khamenei stated that Tehran is quite pessimistic about the other side while it's confident about its own capabilities. He warned against tying the country’s general issues to the talks. The leader also warned against repeating the mistakes made during the JCPOA negotiations where the nation's progress was too dependent on the outcome of the negotiations, leading to delays in areas such as investment. Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the importance of continuing domestic efforts across industrial, economic and cultural sectors regardless of the Oman discussions. The next round of indirect talks is set for Saturday in Oman that acts as mediator.

US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

The Israeli regime continues with its genocidal onslaught in the Gaza strip, killing more innocent women and children. At least one medical staff was killed and nine civilians were injured in an attack on a field hospital in southern Khan Yunis. Gaza’s Health Ministry has condemned the strike, saying it confirms the regime’s intent to further cripple the territory’s already strained healthcare system. In another attack in Khan Yunis, three people lost their lives after an airstrike targeted a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians. Three more were killed and several injured in another airstrike on a tent in Northern Gaza. This brings the death toll since October 20-23 to over 51,000. Meanwhile, Hamas says it is reviewing a recent ceasefire proposal from mediators. The movement has already dismissed Israel’s demand for the disarmament of resistance fighters, stressing that their weapons is a red line and non-negotiable.

Israel aggression against Lebanon

The Israeli regime continues to conduct military operations against Lebanon in defiance of the ceasefire agreement. An Israeli drone has attacked a civilian vehicle in the southern Lebanese village of Aytaroun, killing one person and injuring three including a child. The UN condemned the attack and called for immediate, independent, and impartial investigations into serious breaches of international humanitarian law. The world body also demanded perpetrators be held to account. Israel has continued violations of the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since November 27. The violations have resulted in the killing of around 100 Lebanese.
