Thirty-seven cross-party British lawmakers have signed a letter by former Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn to Prime Minister Keir Starmer that calls for an independent and public investigation into Britain’s support for Israel during the campaign of genocide in Gaza.

In the March 4, 2024 letter, Corbyn, now an independent, claimed Britain has played a significant role in the genocide.

On Wednesday, the 37 MPs demanded the government launch an Iraq war-style inquiry into Britain’s role in the Gaza war.

The signatories include two MPs from the Scottish National Party, Plaid Cymru, and Sinn Fein, as well as several members of the House of Lords.

The MPs have demanded that the inquiry have the full cooperation of ministers involved in decision-making processes since October 2023.

Corbyn called for a “comprehensive inquiry with legal power to establish the truth” about Britain’s role.

The government is “leaving the public in the dark over the ways in which the responsibilities of government have been discharged,” the Corbyn letter included.

Any inquiry “should establish exactly what decisions have been taken, how these decisions have been made and what consequences they have had,” it said.

The new call for investigation follows the Israeli regime’s refusal of entry and deportation of two Labor MPs who had traveled to the occupied West Bank as part of a parliamentary delegation.

The two MPs, Abtisam Mohamed and Yuan Yang, intended to visit humanitarian aid projects in the West Bank.

In addition to providing intelligence and allowing the use of British military bases and facilities, Britain has sold combat aircraft, missiles, tanks, technology, small arms, and ammunition to Israel.
