US-Israeli Gaza genocide

Israel’s relentless bombardment of Gaza continues, with at least 61 Palestinians killed and 134 others injured in the past 24 hours. Southern cities of Khan Younis and Rafah as well as Nuseirat refugee camp in the middle of the Strip were among the targets of the strikes. Meanwhile, two Palestinian journalists were killed in Gaza. Since the war began, at least 208 journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks. The Gaza Government Media Office has condemned what it called the systematic assassination of Palestinian journalists. The death toll from the US-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza has now surpassed 50,000, with more than 113,400 others injured, most of them women and children.

 ‘No talks under threats’

Iran’s foreign minister says the country will not engage in direct negotiations with the US under the threat of Washington’s maximum pressure campaign. Abbas Araghchi says this is the definitive policy of Tehran and will only change if there is a shift in the US approach toward Iran. Araghchi also said the door is open to indirect talks, stressing that Iran will miss no opportunity to protect its national interests. The top Iranian diplomat also touched on the US president’s threats of military action against Tehran, voicing his certainty that no one would dare attack the country as it is fully prepared for any scenario. He underlined that everyone knows about the consequences of any aggression against Iran.

Turkey tensions

Turkey's interior minister says over 110 people have been arrested since the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu last week triggered some of the country’s worst unrest in years. According to a Turkish rights group, some ten journalists were also detained while covering the violent demonstrations that have sparked clashes with police across the country for five consecutive nights. The main rival of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was arrested on Wednesday along with a number of municipal officials. On Sunday a court officially ordered Imamoglu jailed, pending a trial on corruption charges. The arrest has drawn international condemnation.
