Gaza death toll tops 50,000

The death toll from the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza since October 2023 has surpassed the grim milestone of 50,000. That number equates to a little more than two percent of the 2.3 million pre-war population of the territory. That means around one out of every 50 people has been killed in Gaza. According to UN figures, most victims are women and children. The new figures come as the Israeli military has renewed its aggression against Gaza since Tuesday with the regime carrying out constant air and artillery strikes on the blockaded territory. The southern cities of Rafah and Khan Yunis have been the primary targets of the latest assaults. The Israeli military has instructed residents to evacuate parts of Rafah, urging Palestinians to flee an imminent offensive there.

Tel Aviv under missile attack

The Yemeni Armed Forces have launched a fresh attack on Israeli-occupied territories, in response to the Israeli regime’s renewed atrocities in Gaza. The spokesperson added that the Yemeni army will continue to prevent Israeli navigation in the Red Sea until the aggression in Gaza stops and the blockade on the Strip is lifted. The attack set off sirens across the occupied land and sent Israelis rushing for shelters. Israel's military claimed it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen. The strike is the latest in a series of Yemeni military operations against Israel in support of Palestinians. Yemen resumed the operations after a two-month hiatus.

Turkey political tensions

Turkey's interior ministry says it has suspended Ekrem Imamoglu as Istanbul’s mayor following his arrest in a corruption probe. The convoy carrying arrested Istanbul mayor and other detainees has already arrived at Silivri prison in Istanbul. The courts have ordered his detention along with several co-defendants on charges of bribery and unlawful acquisition of personal data. Imamoglu, a potential presidential rival to President Erdogan, has denied all charges, calling the legal actions a summary "execution" of his political career. His arrest has sparked widespread protests, with over 300 arrests reported so far. Erdogan has condemned the protests as "street terror" that will not be tolerated.
