Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on the international community to end the ongoing Israeli escalation in West Asia.
In a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty on Saturday, Araghchi condemned Israel's renewed attacks on the Gaza Strip as well as obstruction of humanitarian aid delivery to the Palestinian territory as a flagrant violation of a January ceasefire.
He also called for an urgent global action against the Israeli escalation in the region.
Israel launched a genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, but it failed to achieve its declared objectives despite killing 49,747 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring more than 113,213 others.
The occupying regime accepted a ceasefire with the Gaza-based Hamas resistance group, which began on January 19.
After two months, however, Israel unilaterally broke the truce agreement and resumed its brutal Gaza onslaught.
The usurping regime also mounted its deadly airstrikes on Lebanon in breach of a fragile ceasefire with the Arab nation.
Meanwhile, the US and the UK waged new acts of aggression against Yemen after the country resumed its anti-Israel operations in solidarity with Gaza.
Araghchi condemned the American and British attacks, emphasizing that war against Yemen is definitely doomed to failure.
Abdelatty, for his part, underlined the need for containing the escalation in Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen.
He also stressed “the urgent need to restore calm, avoid further violence, and solidify the ceasefire in Gaza.”
The top Egyptian diplomat further highlighted “the importance of restraint during this critical period and warned against actions that could worsen the already volatile situation in the region.”
Both Egyptian and Iranian ministers agreed to maintain consultations on regional developments.
