Yemen attacks US carrier

The Yemeni army says it has targeted an American aircraft carrier once again in the Red Sea in response to deadly US airstrikes on the Arab country. Yahya Saree, Yemeni Army spokesman, said US warplanes were forced to return to their bases after Yemeni missiles and drones were fired at the aircraft carrier and several of its warships. The operation came after the US carried out fresh airstrikes, targeting several areas in Yemen’s north and west, including near the city of Hudaydah and in the Jawf governorate. The fresh airstrikes followed Saturday attacks that hit Yemen’s defense systems, including missile and drone launchers. Yemen health officials say over 50 people were killed in those strikes.

‘condemning US aggression’

Iran has once again condemned the deadly US airstrikes on Yemen as a crime and a blatant violation of international law. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei says the attacks are part of a long-running US policy of posing the victim as the criminal. Baghaei said in his weekly presser that the US has always launched aggression and inflicted costs on supporters of Palestinians’ anti-Israeli resistance. He called for international efforts to prevent more acts of aggression against Yemen’s territorial integrity. Elsewhere, the Iranian diplomat slammed the Israeli crimes in Gaza as the root cause of the problem. He said the regime has been launching daily attacks on Palestinian territories and blocking aid from entering Gaza despite the ceasefire. Baghaei said the persisting violations and the full-fledged US support only further emboldens the Zionist regime.

Israel violates Lebanon truce

The Israeli regime has carried out new airstrikes on southern Lebanon, violating a fragile ceasefire agreement with the Arab country. Lebanese media reported that Israeli strikes on the southern town of Aynatha killed two people, while separate drone strikes on two vehicles in Mais al-Jabal and Yater towns claimed two more lives. According to local media, Israel's helicopters also targeted three civilian homes in Kfar Kila, as a regime's drone dropped several sound bombs. A day earlier, an Israeli strike on a vehicle in Burj al-Muluk killed one person. The regime claims its attacks target Hezbollah members, but the group denies this, accusing Israel of lying to justify its ceasefire violations. Israel was supposed to withdraw from Lebanon by February 18, after missing a January deadline, but it has kept its troops in a number of locations it deems "strategic." Since the signing of the truce, nearly 90 people have died in Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
