‘Victory of Palestinian resistance’
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has described the issue of Palestine as a major one, saying the final victory will be definitely for Palestinians. Ayatollah Khamenei said different incidents as well as ups and downs should not raise doubts over Palestinians’ victory. The leader was speaking at a meeting with members of the Hamas leadership council in Tehran. Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the Palestinian resistance has defeated not only the Zionist regime but also the US, preventing them from achieving their objectives. Regarding the miseries of Gazans over the past one year and a half, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that their agonies ultimately ushered in the triumph of the truth over falsehood. He also noted that the people of Gaza have become an inspiration for all supporters of the resistance. The leader called on all Islamic nations and supporters of the resistance to help alleviate the sufferings of the people of Gaza.
Gaza ceasefire deal
Israel has released another batch of Palestinian abductees as part of a swap deal with the resistance movement, Hamas. The prisoners were received by thousands of Palestinians upon their arrival in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah. Four of the abductees are said to be taken to hospital for treatment. The release came after Hamas freed three Israeli captives in return for 183 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The swap is part of a wider deal known as, Gaza ceasefire agreement. The accord brings to an end more than 15 months of Israeli genocide in Gaza. The onslaught which began in October 2023, has so far claimed the lives of more than 48,000 people. The Gaza media office however, has put the death toll at over 61,000, saying those who are still under the rubble are presumed dead. The relentless Israeli attacks also left more than 111,000 injured.
Hamas on Gaza's future
Hamas resistance movement says release of Palestinian prisoners is a clear message that the resistance will determine post-war conditions in Gaza and not any other foreign power. A spokesman for Hamas said the Al-Qassam Brigades proved that the martyrdom of their leaders increased their determination to achieve their goals. Hazem Qassem said the exchange exposed what he called Israeli Prime minister’s delusion of absolute victory over Palestinians. He also pointed to support of Palestinians for resistance groups and said people have proven that Israel’s plan to break their bound with resistance has failed. Separately, Hamas condemned what it called slow killing of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. This came after seven Palestinian inmates freed on Saturday were admitted to hospital. The group said their conditions reflect the systematic assaults and mistreatment of Palestinian abductees by the Israeli prison authorities.
