US will lose next war ‘very badly’, warns Musk

President Donald Trump and Elon Musk

Elon Musk, the billionaire tech mogul and a key aid to US President Donald Trump, says the country will suffer great losses in its next war, criticizing inefficiencies in the military.

Musk, who has been appointed as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), wrote on X about the inefficiencies of the US military which has the largest spending in the world.

“American weapons programs need to be completely redone. The current strategy is to build a small number of weapons at a high price to fight yesterday’s war," he said.

"Unless there are immediate and dramatic changes made, America will lose the next war very badly,” he added.

The billionaire has consistently voiced strong criticism of inefficiencies in the US military, particularly its overwhelming bureaucracy and obsolete military strategies.

On February 5, while discussing the future of warfare at the United States Military Academy in West Point, Musk emphasized the role of drones and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the coming conflicts, adding that “The current war in Ukraine is very much a drone war already.”

Musk has also criticized the F-35 fighter program, which has been subject to controversy due to its many design flaws. The latest technical incident involving the F-35 happened last week when one of the fighter jets crashed during a training flight in Alaska.

According to estimates each F-35 unit costs American taxpayers up to $109 million.

The United States has the largest military budget in the world, with the country currently spending around $850 billion a year.

A large portion of America’s military spending has been spent on various wars and invasions in West Asia.

Back in 2018, Donald Trump admitted that the US had spent $7 trillion in the region and had gotten “nothing for it”
