Israeli crimes in West Bank
At least 10 Palestinians have been killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the town of Tammoun, near the occupied West Bank city of Tubas. According to the Palestinian media, a prominent resistance fighter is among those killed. Several Palestinians have been injured as well. Ambulances were dispatched to the site where the strike happened. The new attack came as tensions have been escalating across the occupied Palestinian territories for the past several days. Nearly 30 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across the West Bank since a ceasefire agreement entered into force in Gaza. The Israeli minister for military affairs has openly said that the regime is at war with Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank, especially in Jenin. Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad have strongly condemned the airstrike as part of the regime’s ongoing war against Palestinians. They added that such attacks are futile attempts that will not weaken the resistance.
Gaza prisoner exchange deal
A Palestinian prisoners’ rights group says Israel is to release one-hundred-and-10 Palestinian abductees on Thursday, as part of an exchange deal under the Gaza ceasefire agreement. The Palestinian Prisoners' Club said the abductees to be released include 32 serving life sentences, 48 sentenced to long-term imprisonment, and 30 minors. They are expected to arrive in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah at around Thursday noon. Twenty of the abductees will be sent into exile after being released. In return, the Hamas resistance movement will free three Israeli captives, including two women and one man. They will be released along with five Thai nationals. Abu Obeida, the spokesman for Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, has confirmed the release of three Israeli captives. A total of seven Israeli captives were freed in exchange for two-hundred-and-90 abductees in two previous swaps.
Rejecting EU accusations
Iran says the apartheid and occupying regime of Israel and its weapons of mass destruction pose the main and permanent threat to global peace and security. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman was reacting to the recent remarks by the European Union’ foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, who called Iran a threat to international peace. Esmaeil Baghaei said Israel has committed the most heinous international crimes and still presses ahead with its occupationist policy and aggression. He added that the EU is in no position to accuse other countries of terrorism, when some of its most important members are openly harboring terrorists. Baghaei stressed that the concept of human rights must not be used as an instrument to meddle in the internal affairs of other countries. He added that if the EU wants to play an effective role in the international arena, it must adopt a realistic approach and respect the rights of other nations.
