Invading Israeli forces have engaged in heavy clashes with Palestinian resistance fighters in the occupied West Bank's Tulkarm governorate.

The resistance fighters said on Monday that they ambushed Israeli soldiers and inflicted multiple casualties on them in the Tulkarm refugee camp.

Earlier in the day,  an Israeli drone struck a vehicle at the entrance of the Nur Shams refugee camp, also in the Tulkarm governorate.

The Hamas resistance group said Ihab Muhammad Atwi and Ramez Bassam Damiri, two members of its armed wing - the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades - were killed in the Israeli attack.

Meanwhile, Israeli bulldozers destroyed infrastructure, including roads, homes and shops, in the Tulkarm refugee camp, particularly in al-Balawna, al-Wakalah, and al-Madrasa neighborhoods.

The occupation soldiers forced several families at gunpoint to leave their homes in the al-Mattar and Murabba'at Hannoun districts. They further set fire to a home belonging to the Shaheen family in the al-Wakalah neighborhood.

Additionally on Monday, Israeli soldiers stormed the town of Qaffin, in Tulkarm governorate, and  blew up a house in the nearby Jenin refugee camp.

In a statement, the Palestinian presidency condemned Israel's intensified attacks in the West Bank, warning that they will not bring security but will instead fuel violence.

It said the assaults had caused widespread infrastructure damage and civilian casualties, citing the martyrdom of 17 Palestinians in Jenin.

"The presidency held the Israeli occupation authorities responsible for the deterioration of the situation in the cities, villages and refugee camps of the West Bank, emphasizing that these attacks on the Palestinian people, land, and sanctities would not bring security or stability to anyone," it added.

Backed by armored vehicles and drones, the Israeli military launched a series of attacks on Jenin on January 21.

The occupation's army claimed that its offensive, dubbed Iron Wall, was aimed at targeting resistance fighters of the Jenin Battalion.

Israel has ramped up violence against the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since October 2023, when it launched its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

The regime forces have killed more than 800 Palestinians in the West Bank.
