Hezbollah ‘undeterred’ by Israeli threats against new chief: Lebanese lawmaker

Threats made by Israel’s minister of military affairs will not deter Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem from pursuing Resistance until victory, says a Lebanese parliamentarian.

“Hezbollah's response will be to further uphold its legitimate right to defend Lebanon. These threats will have no impact on the Resistance or its leaders,” said Hassan Fadlallah, referring to Yoav Gallant’s threats against Sheikh Qassem.

On Tuesday, Gallant posted a photo of Naim Qassem on X and wrote, “Temporary appointment. Not for long.”

Fadlallah underscored the thwarted Israeli attempts to infiltrate al-Khiam in southern Lebanon. “Israeli forces, fearing Hezbollah’s missiles, remain hidden in areas they’ve attempted to infiltrate.”

He affirmed Hezbollah’s long-standing commitment to the slogan “Humiliation never.”

“Between occupation and freedom, Hezbollah has chosen freedom at any cost… Resistance fighters have opened a new chapter in region’s history by proving that Israel can be confronted, despite its air superiority.”

Hezbollah will never allow Israel to impose its conditions on Lebanon, the lawmaker said, adding that Lebanon’s future will be determined solely by “the Resistance and its people.”

Sheikh Naim Qassem was officially elected as the new chief of the Lebanese Resistance movement on Tuesday after his predecessor Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was martyred in an Israeli strike on southern Beirut in late September.
