The assassination of the leaders and commanders of the resistance front will not weaken the Islamic nation's resistance against bullying and occupation, says Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Pezeshkian issued a message on Friday after Hamas officially confirmed that Sinwar was martyred during a direct confrontation on the battlefield with the Israeli forces in southern Gaza.
"The enemy should know that the martyrdom of commanders, heroes, and leaders will not weaken the resistance of the Islamic nation against bullying and occupation," he wrote.
"When a leader falls, another rises," he quoted Ismail Haniyeh, another leader of Hamas assassinated by the Israeli regime, as saying.
Sinwar "heroically until his last breath, never giving up," said the president, referring to footage that shows him confronting the occupation regime forces despite being injured.
"Fighting against aggression and giving the gift of freedom and liberation to the rightful owners of occupied lands is a grand movement and a noble goal that will not be halted by the assassination and elimination of its heroes," Pezeshkian added.
The Iranian president added that the martyrdom of the Hamas leader was "painful and distressing" for all the freedom-seeking nations in the world, particularly for the heroic people of Palestine but it is also “a clear sign of the unstoppable crimes of the occupying and child-killing Zionist regime.”
He also offered his condolences over the martyrdom of Sinwar to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the oppressed but strong people of Palestine in Gaza and all the freedom-seeking nations across the world over the martyrdom of Sinwar.
In a post on his X account, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Sinwar’s assassination will become a source of inspiration for the path of resistance.
He added that the Hamas leader did not fear death but sought martyrdom in Gaza and he bravely “fought to the very end on the battlefield.”
The charismatic and courageous leader of the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli occupation and one of the commanders of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, Sinwar figured high on the regime’s ‘kill list’.
He escaped many assassination attempts before and after the events of October 7 and played an instrumental role in coordinating and supervising resistance operations in Gaza in the past year.
Despite Israeli and Western propaganda that Sinwar was hiding in underground tunnels scattered across the besieged Palestinian territory, the final footage shows him above the ground and in active combat with the occupation forces.
During an interview with CNN, Mustafa Barghouti, the secretary general of the Palestinian National Initiative, said Sinwar “one more time has failed the Israelis.”
