Hezbollah retaliatory operations

In Lebanon, the death toll has risen to 569 as Israeli warplanes continue to bombard areas in the country’s south, east and also areas near the capital Beirut. Dozens of women and children are among the victims. The health ministry says over 1,800 Lebanese have also been injured. Meanwhile, Hezbollah continues to carry out retaliatory operations against Israeli military bases, using the newly-unveiled Fadi missiles. The group attacked Israel’s Ilaniya military site, Ramat David’s base and airport and the Eliakim camp south of Haifa, among others. Hezbollah has also confirmed the death of two of its members in the Israeli airstrikes. Since October last year, Israel and Hezbollah have been engaged in frequent clashes, but the tensions entered a new phase last week when the regime detonated thousands of communication devices across Lebanon, killing and injuring thousands of civilians.

Pezeshkian UN speech

Iran’s president calls on the United Nations to immediately stop Israel’s violent crimes in Gaza and Lebanon before the whole West Asia region is engulfed in violence. Addressing the UN General Assembly, Masoud Pezeshkain said Iran supports Palestinians’ right to self-determination. He stressed a nationwide referendum is the only path to a lasting peace through which all Palestinians, regardless of their faith, can coexist peacefully within the same borders. Pezeshkian slammed sanctions as a destructive and inhumane weapon that only targets civilians. He said western sanctions against Tehran are only designed to cripple the country’s economy. Iran's president also condemned Trump's unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA, expressing readiness for renewed interactions with the parties to the agreement in case they fully implement their treaty-bound obligations.

Hamas message to UN

The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has, in a message to the UN secretary general, called for immediate action to stop Israeli aggression against the occupied west bank and its genocidal war on Gaza. Hamas also urged pressure on Israel’s western backers as they continue to provide the regime with financial and military support. It also held Israel and its supporters fully responsible for the failure of ceasefire negotiations, saying further talks would only give the regime more time to prolong its genocide. The movement stressed the continuation of the Israeli atrocities is not only a danger to Palestinians but also a threat to international peace and security. Hamas also called on the world body to support humanitarian efforts in Gaza, by opening crossings and directing urgent aid to the war-torn territory.
