President Pezeshkian visits victims of Lebanon blasts in Tehran
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has met some of the victims of the Israeli terrorist attacks in Lebanon who were transferred to Iran to receive treatment.
On Friday, Pezeshkian met the wounded people who were admitted to Farabi Eye Hospital in Tehran.
The Iranian president was briefed on the treatment process of the injured.
Pezeshkian, who is heart surgeon and former health minister, was accompanied by the head of the president’s office, and Lebanon’s ambassador to Tehran during his visit.
For his part, the Lebanese ambassador appreciated the support provided by the Islamic Republic for Lebanon.
Explosions targeted pagers and other communication devices across Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing more than 30 people, including children, and wounded some 3,500 others.
The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, whose members were among the casualties, blamed the unprecedented attacks on Israel.
Hezbollah also pledged to retaliate against Israel following the terrorist attacks.
Tel Aviv has so far declined to comment on the attacks, which have already heightened global concerns that the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah could escalate into a full-scale war.
Just hours before the blasts, Israel had announced it was expanding its objectives in its war against the besieged Gaza Strip to also address its battle against Hezbollah along the Lebanese border.
Israel began its campaign of genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, after Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
The regime has killed more than 41,270 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in Gaza since.
Hezbollah has been engaged in strikes against the occupying entity both in support of the war-hit Gazans and in retaliation for intensified Israeli attacks that have been targeting the Lebanese soil since that October day.
