The Yemeni Armed Forces shoot down another advanced American drone in support of Palestinians, who have come under a US-enabled Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip, and in protest at Washington’s aggression against Yemen.

The forces announced the development in a statement read out by their spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree on Saturday.

Saree identified the targeted aircraft as an MQ-9 Reaper, a heavy drone, designed for combined combat and surveillance missions, which is worth around $30 million.

The aircraft was struck “while it was carrying out hostile activities in the airspace of Ma’rib Province” in west-central Yemen, he added.

“This is the eighth drone of this type that the Yemeni Armed Forces have succeeded in downing during the Promised Conquest and Sacred Jihad battle in support of Gaza,” the official noted.

The forces have been carrying out numerous strikes against the occupied Palestinian territories since October 7, when the Israeli regime began the war on Gaza.

At least 40,939 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed so far during the brutal Israeli onslaught, which enjoys unquestioning political, military, and intelligence support on the part of the United States.

The forces have also been targeting Israeli ships and vessels heading towards or away from the occupied territories as means of trying to force the regime into stopping the war and a siege that it has been simultaneously imposing on Gaza.

The US has, on the other hand, been staging attacks against Yemen as means of trying to stop these operations.

Saree, however, vowed that the Yemeni forces “will continue to fulfill their Jihadi duties in defense of the oppressed Palestinian people and in defense of our dear Yemen.”

He also warned, “We are in the process of enhancing our defensive capabilities to confront” the American aggression “by targeting their enemy military movements in the area of [our] naval operations.”

Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, chairman of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee of Yemen, meanwhile, scoffed at the US’s attempts at conducting surveillance and combat operations against Yemen using the drones.

“I call on America to send more MQ-9 drones as Yemeni air defenses enjoy grilling them,” he said.
