US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

Day 317 of US-Israeli genocide in Gaza. More Palestinian civilians lose their lives as the regime in Tel Aviv goes on with its air and artillery strikes against the blockaded territory. In one of the deadliest attacks, at least seven Palestinians were killed in an Israeli bombing of a Palestinian home in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza. Six of those killed were children. Elsewhere in Deir al-Balah, Israeli artillery shelled a Palestinian home in al-Mazra’a Street, leaving at least seven people dead and several others injured. To the north of Gaza, Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building in Jabalia refugee camp, killing four people. The attacks come as the death toll from more than 10 months of genocide has already surpassed the grim milestone of 40,000. More than 92,000 others have also been injured in the regime attacks. Hunger, malnutrition and lack of medical supplies are also taking their toll on the Palestinian population.

Gaza ceasefire talks

A senior leader of the Hamas resistance group says the United States has no genuine will to mediate a ceasefire in the war-torn Gaza Strip. Osama Hamdan said there is an Israeli-American attempt to give the regime more time to carry out more massacres in Gaza. He called Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu the main obstacle to a ceasefire deal. Hamdan said the regime wants the right to continue its attacks even if an agreement is reached. Two days of negotiations to end the Israeli crimes in Gaza concluded in Doha on Friday. Qatar, Egypt and the US described the talks as serious and constructive. They agreed to resume the talks in Cairo next week. Hamas has repeatedly insisted on complete cessation of the Israeli war of aggression against Gaza.

Pro-Maduro rallies

Thousands of Venezuelans have rallied in support of President Nicolas Maduro as a post-election standoff continues. Maduro himself delivered a speech at the march, which was held in downtown Caracas. He said opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez and opposition leader Maria Corina Machado are seeking to foment a coup. Maduro called for their arrest. Venezuela's National Electoral Council proclaimed Maduro the winner of a third term in office following a vote on July 28. The opposition, however, claims election fraud and has been staging rival rallies. The US, the EU and several Latin American countries have backed the opposition claim. Anti-Maduro protests have claimed 25 lives so far. More than 2,400 have also been arrested.
