US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

Israeli forces have launched numerous airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, causing more death and destruction across the besieged territory. In the latest strikes, the regime targeted houses in different areas of Gaza City, killing nearly 20 civilians, including children, and injuring many others. An attack on the Al-Zawaida area in central Gaza killed over 15 people, including nine children and three women. Health officials say the Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza will shut down within the next 24 hours due to severe shortage of medical supplies and fuel. In the past 24 hours alone, Israeli forces have killed at least sixty-nine Palestinians and injured a 136 others. That brings the total death toll from the Israeli genocide in Gaza to 40,074 and the total number of injured to over 92,500.

Israel war on media

A coalition of journalists and press freedom advocates has condemned the US for facilitating Israel’s intentional killing of journalists in Gaza. More than 100 journalists, 20 news outlets and seven press freedom organizations made the statement in a letter addressing US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. They called on the US to do more to protect journalists by imposing an arms embargo against Israel. They said Israel’s killing and silencing of journalists is enabled by US weapons, military aid, and diplomatic support. They argue that the US provision of weapons to the regime makes Washington complicit in one of the gravest affronts to press freedom today. The letter also pointed out that the regime has killed more than 160 Palestinian journalists, which is the highest number recorded in any war. The coalition said Israel's killings of journalists are aimed at censoring its war crimes.

Gaza ceasefire talks

Iran’s acting Foreign Minister says the US is complicit in Israeli crimes committed in Gaza and can’t be an impartial mediator for the ceasefire talks. Ali Bagheri Kani made the remarks in a phone call with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty. He slammed the United States for abetting the ongoing genocide and actively obstructing efforts to establish a ceasefire in the besieged territory. The Iranian official stressed that it is Iran’s inherent and legitimate right to respond to the Israeli assassination of Hamas chief Ismael Haniyeh in Tehran. He also pointed out that Gazans, with their remarkable courage, will not succumb to the regime’s aggressions. For his part, Abdelatty stressed that Cairo is focused on assisting Palestinians and immediately stopping the Zionists' crimes in Gaza. Egypt is set to host the next round of Gaza truce talks.
