US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

Israeli air and artillery strikes on Gaza continue unabated as the genocidal war marks 303 days. In one of the latest strikes, at least eight Palestinians were killed in the Israeli bombing of a house in the Al-Fakhoura area in the Jabalia camp, north of the Gaza Strip. In central Gaza, Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike in the Deir al-Balah area, leaving at least three Palestinians dead and several others injured. In a separate attack, Israeli fighter jets struck a car in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, killing several Palestinians. Earlier attacks on Sunday were also deadly, with at least five people being killed after the Israeli military targeted tents of the displaced Palestinians inside al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. The Israeli aggression on Gaza, which began last October has so far claimed the lives of nearly 40,000 people and injured more than 90,000 others.

Israel's assassination of Haniyeh

Iran’s parliament speaker warns Israel of a crushing response over the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says that the Islamic Republic will “teach a history-making lesson” to Israel and the US for the killing. Qalibaf said Iran has never left the breach of its sovereignty without a response, asserting that Israel and its supporters in the US will regret the assassination. The speaker notes that the Israeli regime is seeking to portray its acts of terror as “victory” through psychological warfare to cover up its “definite defeat” and desperation in Gaza. Ismail Haniyeh was martyred early on Wednesday, while in Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Iran says Israel carried out the assignment with the support of the US.

Venezuela politics

Thousands of Venezuelans have rallied in the capital Caracas to express their support for the government following a contested presidential election. The protesters marched to the presidential palace in Caracas in the name of “national peace.” President Nicolas Maduro had called for the mother of all marches. Addressing his supporters during the demonstration, Maduro said he will not allow the opposition to, in his words, usurp the presidency. The opposition also held a rival rally in Caracas. Maduro claimed his term in office after Venezuela’s election authority declared him the winner of last week’s vote. The opposition, however, claims its candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez, won the election by a landslide. Some Latin American countries and the US have recognized him as president-elect.
