'Israel will be punished'

Iran’s acting foreign minister condemns the assassination of Hamas leader in Tehran as a violation of Iran’s sovereignty, saying it endangers regional and international peace and stability. In a phone call with EU’s Foreign policy chief, Ali Bagheri Kani warned that Iran will definitely use its inherent and legitimate right to punish the “Zionist criminal ring.” He also criticized some of the European countries for helping the US prevent the Security Council from condemning the assassination. In addition, Bagheri Kani warned that the EU’s silence only encourages Israel to take more atrocious actions in the region. He demanded Europe pressure the regime into ending its crimes. In response, Josep Borrell also acknowledged Iran’s legitimate right to defend its sovereignty.

US-Israeli genocide in Gaza 

More than 300 days have passed since Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza which continues unabated, causing more death and destruction across the besieged Palestinian territory. In one of the latest strikes, at least five Palestinians were killed in a bombing of a home in the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis. The attack also left several people injured. In another attack in southern Gaza, several Palestinians were killed after the Israeli military targeted the Mirage and Musbah area, north of Rafah. The regime has also hit other locations across Gaza with artillery, leaving an unknown number of people dead and injured. Israeli air and artillery strikes have claimed the lives of nearly 40,000 civilians since October. Relentless Israeli attacks have also brought much of Gaza’s vital infrastructure to a breaking point. 

Israel's West Bank killings

At least five Palestinians are killed in an Israeli drone strike on a car in the occupied West Bank city of Tulkarm. Haitham Nour al-Din Balidi, a senior member of the Hamas’ military wing, the al-Qassam brigades, and Ahmed al-Sabbagh, a top commander of the al-Quds brigades of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, are among those killed in the attack. The strike happened near the towns of Attil and Zeita. A general strike has been declared across the West Bank over the latest Israeli killings. Israeli forces have intensified their attacks across the West Bank over the past several days. On Friday, the regime’s forces abducted two Palestinian teenagers from a town, west of Ramallah and set ablaze two homes in a nearby village. Eyewitnesses said Israeli forces also targeted residents with stun grenades and tear gas. Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since October.
