At least three civilians have been killed and another three injured when Israeli military aircraft carried out a strike against a residential building in southern Lebanon, as fighting intensifies between the Tel Aviv regime and the Hezbollah resistance movement.

Three Lebanese security sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters news agency that the strike targeted the structure in the town of Bint Jbeil on Monday evening.

Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reported, “The Israeli enemy committed a massacre of civilians in Bint Jbeil, killing one brother and a sister from the Dagher family.”

The report added that another sister was gravely wounded when Israeli aircraft hit the family's house twice, completely destroying it. All three were transported to a nearby hospital.

Emergency response teams, including paramedics, civil defense units, as well as members of Muslim Scout Association of Lebanon and the Islamic Health Organization, actively worked together to clear the rubble from the destroyed home.

Hezbollah in a statement announced the death of one of its fighters from the Dagher family in Bint Jbeil, confirming the NNA report.

The Israeli military alleged in a statement that its fighter jets had “struck a Hezbollah weapons storage facility in the area of Bint Jbeil and a Hezbollah military structure... in southern Lebanon” near the border village of Kfar Kila.

On Monday night, Hezbollah said it fired dozens of rockets at Kiryat Shmona city in the northern occupied territories near the Lebanon border “in response to the aggression of the Israeli enemy including the horrible massacre in Bint Jbeil.”

Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging deadly fire since early October last year, shortly after the regime launched a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip following a surprise operation by Hamas.

The Lebanese resistance movement has vowed to keep up its retaliatory attacks as long as the Israeli regime continues its Gaza war, which has so far killed at least 38,664 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in Gaza.

Hezbollah officials have repeatedly said they do not want a war with Israel while stressing that they are prepared in case it occurs.

Two Israeli wars waged against Lebanon in 2000 and 2006 were met with strong resistance from Hezbollah, resulting in the retreat of the regime in both conflicts.
