The Iranian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned Israel’s recent attack on a UN-run school for Palestinian refugees in Gaza, bitterly censuring the regime’s Western backers for their silence on its crimes.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Nasser Kan'ani, made the remarks in a late Sunday post on X social media platform.

“The attack by the infanticide Zionist regime on a school run by UNRWA (the UN agency for Palestinian refugees) in the Gaza Strip has once again revealed the dark and hidden side of the claimant West to the entire world,” he said.

Kan'ani’s comments came after earlier on Sunday, Israeli forces targeted un UNRWA school in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, killing at least 15 people and injuring 80 others.

The school was struck as Israel continues to systematically target shelters, schools, and UNRWA facilities across the besieged territory in its tenth-month genocidal war.

“A regime that started its disgraceful life with occupation, massacre, assassination, killing of women and children, and destruction of Palestinians’ homes cannot be expected to behave in a humane manner based on international norms, because it has been founded on crime,” Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

Kan'ani added, “However, the regrettable reality is the silence and inaction of Western and European governments that have a claim to [being advocates of] morality, law and human rights.”

The Iranian official said despite the high volume of Israel’s crimes and barbarity, its Western backers “are still deceiving the public opinion and playing with words and phrases.”

“The United States and some European governments that support the Zionist regime, along with the regime itself, are the main losers of the war on Gaza,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson said.

Kan'ani concluded by adding, “They have not only lost the war, but also human morality and honor.”

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has also condemned the attack as “an extension of the ongoing war of extermination against our defenseless civilians … which is a blatant Zionist challenge to the international community, and a disregard of the UN demands for stopping the aggression against our people."

The Israeli genocide in Gaza has so far killed 38,584 Palestinians, mostly women and children, leaving 88,881 others injured.
