US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

Ten months into the Israeli genocide in Gaza, the occupying regime keeps pounding the devastated Palestinian territory, killing more women and children. Three Palestinians, including an infant, were killed, and many others injured after Israeli warplanes bombed a house north of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. In Gaza City, four citizens were wounded after an Israeli drone dropped an explosive bomb on civilians. Thirty new bodies were also recovered in several areas of the city. To the south, fresh raids on tents housing displaced Palestinians in Khan Yunis left eight people dead and dozens more injured. In Rafah, an Israeli drone targeted a gathering of civilians, killing two of them. At least 50 Palestinians were killed, and 54 others wounded within 24 hours. The latest casualties bring the death toll from the Israeli genocide in Gaza to nearly 38,350. Nearly 88,300 others have been injured.

Gaza ceasefire efforts

The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has rejected US media reports that a breakthrough is imminent in negotiations over a ceasefire in Gaza. Hamas refuted reports that a framework for the ceasefire has been agreed upon by the involved parties. The movement said in a statement that it has not received any new information from the mediators. Hamas added that Israel is procrastinating to buy time and prevent the ongoing talks from reaching a conclusion. The movement asserted that the Palestinian people and resistance would not be deceived by Israel’s policy. Hamas’ statement came after, on Wednesday, The Washington Post, citing an unnamed US official, claimed that a framework for a Gaza ceasefire had been agreed upon and negotiations continued on its details.

Russia-US tensions

Russia has warned that the United States’ plan to deploy long-range missiles in Germany will escalate tensions between Moscow and the West to a Cold War level. Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, called the move a steady step towards the Cold War. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov also said Moscow will develop a military strategy to counter the Pentagon’s plan to deploy long-range weapons in Germany. Reacting to the US plan, the speaker of Russia’s Federal Council said Moscow’s response to the deployment of American missiles in Germany will be harsh and appropriate. The White House announced the decision during a NATO summit in Washington. It claimed that deployment of long-range weapons, including Tomahawk cruise missiles, in Europe serves as a deterrent.
