South Korean unions rally for rights as corporate profits soar, labor strife grows

South Korean unions have rallied near the National Assembly for the recognition of gig workers as employees and legal protections for workers' rights.

As Samsung unionists strike this week, Samsung Electronics last week announced huge profits on AI chip demand. Union leaders say temporary self-employed workers' rights are abused, amid a deadlock in talks on boosting the minimum wage.
