An official with the rocket and missile unit of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has been killed after the Israeli military carried out an airstrike in southern Lebanon close to the border with the 1948 occupied territories.

In a statement published on its Telegram channel on Monday, Hezbollah announced the death of Mustafa Hassan Salman, known as Abu Hassan – a resident of the town of Qlaileh in the Tyre district.

The Israeli military, for its part, stated that Abu Hassan was an official with Hezbollah’s rocket and missile unit, and was killed in a drone strike in southern Lebanon overnight Sunday.

The statement added that the Hezbollah member took part in the planning and execution of various operations against Israeli military positions.

His death brings to 363 the number of Hezbollah fighters killed since the Tel Aviv regime began to conduct attacks on southern Lebanon in October last year.

Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging deadly fire since early October last year, shortly after the regime launched a genocidal aggression against the Gaza Strip following a surprise operation by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group.

The Lebanese resistance movement has vowed to keep up its retaliatory attacks as long as the Israeli regime continues its Gaza war, which has so far killed at least 38,193 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in Gaza.

Hezbollah officials have repeatedly said they do not want a war with Israel, while stressing that they are prepared in case it occurs.

Two Israeli wars waged against Lebanon in 2000 and 2006 were met with strong resistance from Hezbollah, resulting in the retreat of the regime in both conflicts.
