Hezbollah pounds Israeli positions, kills senior commander

Fighters from the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement have conducted new operations against Israeli military targets in reprisal for the regime's assassination of a top commander of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah announced in a statement that it targeted espionage equipment at an Israeli outpost at the Metulla settlement in northern part of the 1948-occupied territories with a barrage of rockets, achieving direct hits.

Separately, the resistance fighters struck a gathering of Israeli troops in Admit settlement with appropriate weapons, hitting the designated targets precisely. The attack caused a fire in the area and inflicted casualties on the Israeli forces.

Hezbollah also published video footage of its strikes on Israeli military barracks and bases in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights as well as in northern occupied Palestinian lands.

The resistance group stated that the operations came in solidarity with steadfast Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, in support of honorable resistance fighters in the coastal territory, and in retaliation for Israeli strikes on residential areas in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah on Wednesday said that one of its high-ranking commanders, identified as Muhammad Nimah Nasser, also known as “Hajj Abu Naameh”, was assassinated. A source close to the group confirmed to the AFP news agency that Nasser had been killed in an Israeli attack against the Hosh area in Tyre in southern Lebanon. 

On Thursday, the resistance group said it launched more than 200 rockets and drones targeting Israeli military positions in response to the assassination.

In a statement on Wednesday, Hezbollah said Mohamed Naim Nasser had been martyred.

Israeli army officer killed in Hezbollah rocket fire

Later on Thursday, the Israeli military said in a press statement that an officer had been killed in Hezbollah rocket fire.

The slain major was identified as Itay Galea, 38, a deputy company commander in the 8679th Unit of the Israeli military's 679th Armored Brigade. 

He was killed when a rocket hit the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights during Hezbollah's massive retaliatory attacks against the regime’s positions.

‘Hezbollah response to Israeli assassinations beyond expectations’

Meanwhile, a Lebanese lawmaker from the political wing of Hezbollah has warned of surprises in retaliation for the assassination of the resistance group’s commanders.

Ibrahim al-Moussawi, a member of Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc, stated that Hezbollah’s strikes will go beyond expectations, emphasizing that the retaliatory operations are strongly indicative of the movement’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian nation.

“Anytime the Zionist enemy assassinates one of our commanders, it further consolidates our resolve and determination. The targeted killings of resistance commanders will have no influence and won’t change existing equations. Our response will exceed the enemy's expectations,” he pointed out.

Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging deadly fire since early October last year, shortly after the regime launched a genocidal aggression against the Gaza Strip following a surprise operation by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group.

The Lebanese resistance movement has vowed to keep up its retaliatory attacks as long as the Tel Aviv regime continues its Gaza war, which has so far killed at least 38,011 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 87,445 others.

Hezbollah officials have repeatedly said they do not want a war with Israel, however, stressing that they are prepared in case it occurs
