An international human rights organization has revealed that the Israeli occupation forces are committing “widespread massacres” in two neighborhoods in eastern Gaza City as the regime’s genocidal war against Palestinians in the besieged territory inches close to ten months.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor announced on Sunday that it had received reports of “widespread massacres,” and on-the-spot executions in the Shujaiya and Jdaida neighborhoods.
“Our field team is receiving reports of dozens, possibly hundreds, of victims being executed on the spot or having their shelters bombed,” wrote Ramy Abdul, chairman of the Geneva-based group, in a post on X.

Earlier in the day, a United Nations spokesman said the Israeli military had intensified its attacks on the Shujaiya neighborhood, resulting in civilian casualties and a displacement of at least 60,000 people.
UN secretary-general's spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the new Israeli offensive, including air and artillery strikes, in Shujayea had forced the displacement of “at least 60,000” residents.
“Humanitarian partners are reporting new displacement... Yesterday, the Israeli military ordered people living in 28 residential blocks in areas east of Gaza City to immediately evacuate … at least 60,000 people were displaced from this area, which spans over seven square kilometers [2.7 square miles],” Dujarric said.
Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
The occupying regime has killed at least 37,834 Palestinians and injured over 86,858 since the start of the offensive. More than 1.7 million people have been internally displaced as well.
Piles of rubbish, ‘unbearable’ heat in Gaza
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNWRA) warned of health risks on Saturday as the summer heat has become “unbearable” in Gaza, with families “living under plastic sheeting” amid soaring temperatures.
UNWRA spokesperson Louise Wateridge said sanitary conditions had become desperate for displaced people living “next to mountains of garbage and sewage.”
"Trash is piling up everywhere; people are living under plastic sheeting where temperatures soar,” Wateridge wrote on X.

Last month, the UN Palestinian refugee agency said over 330,000 tons of waste had accumulated in or near populated areas across Gaza, posing catastrophic environmental and health risks for the residents.
