Iran’s interim foreign minister has called upon Muslim states to employ “all available means” to stop the ongoing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Ali Bagheri Kani denounced the atrocities perpetrated by the Israeli regime against Palestinians in Gaza during a telephone conversation on Saturday night with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“Muslim states must use all available means to promptly end Zionists’ genocide in Gaza, and assist the oppressed population of the territory,” Bagheri Kani said
For his part, the top Emirati diplomat pointed to the Jordan-hosted summit on June 11 on the urgent humanitarian response for Palestinians enduring more than eight months of devastating war in Gaza.
He stressed the need for the immediate dispatch of humanitarian relief assistance to Gaza, and effective measures to stop the Israeli military offensive.
“The UAE is doing its utmost to stop the war and send humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. This is our humanitarian duty,” he stated.
Israel waged the onslaught against the Gaza Strip, targeting hospitals, residences, and houses of worship after Palestinian resistance movements launched a surprise attack, dubbed Operation al-Aqsa Storm, against the usurping regime on October 7.
At least 37,296 Palestinians have been killed, most of them women and children, and another 85,197 individuals have sustained injuries. More than 1.7 million people have been internally displaced during the war as well.
More than eight months since the start of Israel’s military assault on Gaza, dire conditions in the besieged territory are being exacerbated by Israel’s total siege on Gaza and the denial of sufficient aid. The Israeli military has blocked aid convoys, killed more than 200 aid workers, and shot starving civilians trying to access food.
