Muslims need to take practical actions to end Israeli crimes against Palestinians: Iran interim FM
Iran's Interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani says Muslim countries need to take more "practical and more serious" measures to put an end to the Israeli regime's crimes against the people of Palestine.
In a phone call with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha on Thursday, Bagheri Kani warned about Israel's mounting crimes in Gaza's southern city of Rafah.
He hailed efforts by some countries, including South Africa, to file a genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice and a move by a number of Latin American states to sever ties with the regime.
Bagheri Kani once again called for an extraordinary meeting of the OIC foreign ministers to force Israel to end its atrocities against the Palestinians.
The OIC chief, for his part, denounced the ongoing Israeli criminal acts in Gaza and stressed the need for practical steps to confront the regime.
The Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on October 7, 2023 following Al-Aqsa Storm, a retaliatory operation by Gaza’s resistance groups, during which some 250 people were taken captive.
Concomitantly with the war, the regime has been enforcing a near-total siege on Gaza, which has reduced the flow of foodstuffs, medicine, electricity, and water into the Palestinian territory into a trickle.
The brutal military onslaught has so far claimed the lives of at least 37,202 Palestinians, mostly women and children. Another 84,932 Palestinians had been wounded since the conflict broke out.
