US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
Israeli attacks on different parts of Gaza during the past day have claimed at least 38 civilian lives. Six fatalities were reported after attacks on Nuseirat refugee camp and another near Rafah city. More than 33,200 Palestinians have died since October 7.
‘Facilitating Israeli genocide’
The International Court of Justice has started hearings on Nicaragua's genocide case against Germany for supporting Israel. The Nicaraguan ambassador also said German companies involved in the military industry are directly profiting from the situation as they have seen the prices of their shares rise since 7 October. Nicaragua has accused Germany of facilitating the commission of genocide against Palestinians by supporting Israel’s war on Gaza. It hopes that the case, if won, would suspend Germany’s military assistance to the regime. Berlin will present its side in the court on Tuesday. The court will likely take weeks to deliver its decision. Germany is one of the major arms exporters to Israel, sending more than 326 million Euros worth of military equipment and weapons just in 2023.
Iran-Syria relations
The Iranian foreign minister, who is in Syria, says the unfolding developments in Gaza indicate severe confusion and unprecedented division within the Israeli regime. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the comment in a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus. He urged the international community to take immediate action against Israel’s brutal crimes and siege on the war-ridden Gaza Strip. The top Iranian diplomat also touched upon what he described as insane Israeli strikes on the consular section of the Iranian embassy. He said Tehran’s response to the Zionist regime and its punishment will be definite. Also in an earlier meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mekdad, the Iranian diplomat stressed that such Israeli assaults would only strengthen the bond between Iran and Syria in their pursuit of regional security and stability, as well as countering the Zionist entity. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also inaugurated a new Iranian consular building during his visit.
