Qassam Brigades condemn Israeli strike on Iranian consulate in Syria

The military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has condemned the Israeli regime’s recent deadly strike on the Iranian consulate building in the Syrian capital of Damascus.

Israeli warplanes bombed with six missiles the Consular Section of the Iranian Embassy in the Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus on Monday afternoon, claiming the lives of seven military advisors of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

The IRGC named Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, and his deputy General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi as among the martyrs of the terrorist attack.

“We offer our condolences on the martyrdom of Mohammad Reza Zahedi (Abu Mahdi) and his comrades who were martyred yesterday in a cowardly attack by the Zionist regime on Damascus, the capital of Syria,” Qassam said in a statement.

“While condemning the Zionist regime’s craven onslaught on Damascus, we appreciate the great role of Martyr Mohammad Reza Zahedi in forming the resistance front against the Zionist regime over the past years.”

Hamas called the aggression “a flagrant violation of international law, an encroachment on the sovereignty of both Syria and Iran, and a dangerous Zionist escalation.”

The movement demanded that the United Nations Security Council take “effective” action to stop the regime’s aggression on the region, “which adds fuel to the fire and undermines international stability and security.”

The Islamic Republic has vowed to give a “decisive response” to the new Israeli aggression.

Israeli attack ‘sign’ of defeat against resistance front

The Popular Resistance Committees, a coalition of a number of Palestinian resistance groups, condemned the attack and said the aggression was a sign of the regime’s defeat against the Palestinian nation and strikes by the Axis of Resistance.

The coalition described the aggression as an attack on the entire Islamic-Arabic Ummah, which must be responded with "more painful blows and crushing operations."

“The crime of the Zionist regime in its attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria shows the regime is made up of a gang of criminals, fascists and murderers, and that they are suffering from a severe defeat and failure in front of the Palestinian people and resistance as well as the strikes by the forces of the Axis of Resistance,” the statement said.

The coalition called on the Arab and Muslim nations as well as freedom-seeking fighters and combatants to stand up against the Zionist-American aggression against the Islamic Ummah and put an end to the unprecedented crimes of Israel.
