Israel is committing genocide by killing innocent Palestinian children, says Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who believes that the regime's atrocities in the Gaza Strip is not like a war.
“What is happening is not a war. It is a genocide that led to the killing of nearly 2,000 children who had nothing to do with this war. They are the victims of this war,” Da Silva said in a meeting held at the presidential palace in the capital, Brasilia on Wednesday.
“Frankly, I do not know how a person can go to war knowing that the result of that war is the death of innocent children,” he added.
The Brazilian leader warned that what is going on in the besieged territory is not a matter of discussing “who is right and who is wrong, who fired the first bullet and who fired the second.”
Israel launched the war on Gaza after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime's decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.
The regime’s bombardment of the Palestinian territory has so far killed 7,326 people, Gaza health ministry said Friday.
A total of 3,038 Palestinian children have tragically lost their lives, according to the latest death toll.
The number of people who are wounded in the airstrikes across Gaza has also reached 18,967.
Israel has also blocked water, food, and electricity to Gaza, plunging the coastal strip into a humanitarian crisis.
The United Nations warned Friday that people in Gaza “are not only dying from bombs and strikes, soon many more will die from the consequences of (the) siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.”
