France in turmoil

Protests have been underway in France for days as more police officers have been deployed to the streets and the number of arrests has been skyrocketing.

Around 2,500 people have been arrested so far and hundreds of civilians and police forces have been injured.

The government has ordered restrictions and control over social media platforms, announcing that it will deal harshly with rioters and people who cause harm and property destruction.

In this edition of the Spotlight program, Press TV interviews Mahmoud Refaat, an international relations expert from Stockholm, and Frank Emspak, a radio producer and political commentator from Madison, US, to look at various angles of the ongoing protests in France.
