Israel committing organized crime, official terrorism against Palestinians: Iran

An explosive charge left by Palestinians detonates by an Israeli armoured vehicle during an Israeli army raid in Jenin in the occupied West Bank on June 19, 2023.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman has strongly condemned Israel's massacre of Palestinians, saying the occupying regime is committing “organized crime and official terrorism” as the international community stays silent.

Nasser Kan'ani on Monday censured the brutal and criminal attack by Israeli special forces on the occupied northern West Bank city of Jenin earlier in the day, which killed at least five Palestinian people and wounded 66 others.

He said the Zionists' intensified criminal acts in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in recent months and the massacre of Palestinian people, including children, women, and the elderly, as well as the destruction of Palestinians' property and homes are "clear examples of organized crime and official terrorism."

The Iranian official emphasized that the international community, especially the United Nations, shoulder an urgent responsibility to take preventive measures against such inhumane acts.

According to local sources, a brutal raid by Israeli forces in the Jenin refugee camp and al-Jabriyat neighborhood led to fierce clashes with resistance fighters, who detonated homemade explosives as Israeli military vehicles passed by.

Kan'ani further expressed concern over inaction of the UN and countries across the world towards Israel's expansion of illegal settler units in the West Bank.

He lashed out at Western countries for keeping silence on Israel's settlement activities and urged international bodies and the countries supporting the Palestinians to fulfill their legal, humane and moral responsibility and defend the Palestinian people's rights.

Israel must be held accountable for its crimes and measures in violation of international rules and regulations, the Iranian spokesperson pointed out.

Tensions have been running high in the occupied West Bank over the past year, with the Israeli military conducting violent raids under the pretext of detaining what it calls “wanted” Palestinians.

As a result of these attacks, nearly 160 Palestinians, including 28 children, have lost their lives and many others have been arrested so far this year.
