Failing Sanctions
Shortly after Russia's attack on Ukraine, the United States along with a number of European countries orchestrated an array of sanctions on Moscow.
With the ruble falling to a new low, Biden claimed that the sanctions were already working. He said, The severe economic sanctions on Putin and all those folks around him, choking off access to technology as well as cutting off access to the global financial system-its had a profound impact already.
Biden's statement, however, is in a stark contrast with the reality of sanctions; economic tools frequently used by the West, in particular the US, yet unable to reach their objectives most of the time- whether it is to end a war, stop genocide or seek regime change.
